Howdy Carlos. Overheated can make bad things happen, usually cracked head or blown head gasket. Hope its not serious. depends on the neighbor for the rebuild. If you use a pro, make sure they run a neat shop, organized and clean. That reflects their work habits and attention to detail.

I agree with the rest about the cleanliness thing. I would really think twice about having someone rebuild my engine who does not keep a clean shop. He may be good, and it is ultimately your call....just something to think about.
Also, it would be a good idea to do some investigation on what the actual issue is, you may not need a complete rebuild.

we'l i let my mechanic look at it. the reason why the heads are making noise is because the oil pump went. =] im so freakinnn exited, car should be running again in no time. he told me to get a hi-capacity oil pump since its a 440. should i get a hi-capacity one or not?

here is what i would do
pull the pump off, its easy to do on a 440
buy a new gasket when you put it back
never reuse the old one
look at the gears inside
if they are chipped, you need a new oil pump
if they are not chipped, you need to use a feeler gauge and measure the distance between the gears (i dont know the gap, sorry)

i'l make sure i mention all this to my mechanic. the car turns on perfect and idled fine. does not smoke. he mentioned sumthing about since the pump isnt pumping all the oil is at the bottom. does this sound right?

Second that all both of those. I was told once while talking about a rebuild that I need to decide if i want a high capacity or a high velocity. But I never got a good answer on which one. Maybe someone here could explain which is better?

my 440 was a high pressure pump
when I get on it, the gauge pins at 100
but, you should be fine with a 60-80 pound pump
the general rule is 10 pounds for every 1000 rpm
