How would I go about motor swapping to a 454 bigblock

Okay, I know what your thinking, why not a dodge motor or anything like a 318. Well I have chevy motors, a few of em. I don't have dodge motors and can't afford to just go out and get one. I have a 1982 dodge d150 with a 1963 225 slant six out of a Plymouth belvedere with 75k miles on it. I left it stock. I have a 833 4 speed manual with overdrive. I was wondering how I could motor swap to a chevy 350 small block, or a 454 big block out of an rv. And just for **** and giggles I have a 383 stroker with a roller cam. I'm just curious how hard it would be to motor swap. I want to keep my 833 4 speed manual.

In theory a motor is a motor, so it's going to depend on how well you can fabricate parts or have some one who can.
As crazy as it sounds, it could be a fun project, if you're into that sort of stuff.

And you're right, we're thinking exactly what you think we're thinking.

i'm thinking, if you have to ask, the project might not be for you lol! there's quite a bit of planning and fabbing (metal work) involved, likely, but you can google and maybe find some company or other that makes mounts and whatnot, possibly. it would be far, far easier to score some 360 out the junkyard and throw pistons in it lol.

Getting the 454 to fit the chassis is just metal fabrication but using the original transmission might be a problem. GM did use a Mopar 833 in the early 80s pickups that might help with a bellhousing. If I was going to do this swap I would go all Mopar or all GM.

I agree with most of the guys.....
Going to need an adapter for the engine to transmission..... And going to need to fab some of the other parts and take care of some of that wiring....
Sharpen up you fab Skills.... It can be done if you want it !!!!!!
Keep us posted....

Nuh uh

Not doing it! No way 😭. Anyone close who's willing to trade me a 318 or 360 that will mount right in for my 454 bigblock that is currently sitting inside an rv. I still gotta go get it and clean it up. But winter is stopping me
it's an 8 bolt main btw...
