I don't have the wiring diagram but I would say that you need a 42RE tranny. that should have all the proper plugs so you don't have to fudge with the 94 tranny. The 94 3.9 will work just fine though.

i'd sell the 94 tranny and just get the 97 auto rebuilt. sometimes its not worth the extra work (but thats just my opinion).

I do believe that they are for the lockup and something else, I just can't remember. It's been a while since I've been in a tranny rebuilding it. As long as the stock convertor is a lockup, then yes, you should be able to go with an aftermarket lockup and been fine.

Just to give you a little feed back about the 42RE trannies. I had one in my 00 dodge dakota club cab 4x4. Now I will admit that I was hard on it at times plus towed 3 vehicles with it. I ended up rebuilding it twice and replacing it once. I will admit though it lasted longer than I thought it would have, I just have a really heavy right foot and love wheeling.

If you can fine the part numbers on the trannies (the one you took out or the VIN of the vehicle and the one that you plan to install), you can go to a local dealership and have them run the numbers and see exactly what you are playing with for tranneis.
