Just ranting
I had a truck stolen 2 years ago and it sucked, had only liability insurance. Did not get nothing, never found truck..
What people dont understand the cops can careless and never question or look for your stuff. The insurance company does the investigation because they have to pay out if its covered. Also the insurance does not cover tools or anything else thats not factory or bolted down. Unless stated in another policy.
Hate a crook, they need to be hung in town.

That would make my job a lot easier! It's most likely the same people every time. Every time I take a report for a stolen car it gets entered in to the national secret database of cop stuff. When you drive around running tags it will show if it is stolen. Usually in our department our record keepers who entered into the national secret database will call the number of the victim and notify them, and take it out of the database. I've stopped cars before that were returned to their owners thinking it was stolen. We have a rash of stolen Honda's (the most stolen car in the world.) I took two reports in February. The first one was right at shift change before we got off work. We found it the next day. The second one was right when we started work. I found it with in a hour... and got finger prints. If there is an unusual vehicle on the hot sheet Ill keep my eye out. Other wise I run the tag on every mid 90's Honda I see. I love finding stolen cars, its one of the few times people actually thank us.
Alot of times you dont even want the vehicle back. I remember one time that a customer had a customized van stolen from here in NY. And it ended up in the FL Everglades, the customer being the owner of a trucking business. He sent one of his drivers to go pick it up. When it got back to NY it was full of mud. The thing they forgot to tell him was that they drove it into the Everglades. The insurance comp. wanted it fixed as it was only a month old. The whole interior was replaced all the carpet, walls,tv,stereo, tables, bed, ect.ect. not to mention all the fluids had to be drained and flushed it took about a week to do but it was a messy job to say the least. There was some minor body work that had to be done too. I got the vehicle done and he sold it and bought a new one. probably a smart move.
