yeah yeah .
still more drama's everywhere turn .
after day's of searching i got a Welsh plug for the cam tunnel & had 2 make up some head locating dowels from under size 1/4 " bolts . ( didn't think of roll pins ) but nobody Else thought of them ether . our valve spring compressor can't cope with the springs on my Indy head . so I'll have to take to a reconditioning shop to install one exhaust valves springs .
well when the machine shop drilled & tapped my block for 1/2" oil pick up they ether didn't do it to 1/2" npt or they stuffed it . so the thread on my pick up is kaput , so I'll need to get sorted also . never ends .

slowly getting there though .

both heads are torqued down now timing cover on , sorted the valve springs , push rods & lifters in , checked piston to valve clearance with .100" of clay not even touching the clay ( bring on the solid roller ) valley pan on i hope its on right . minor spacer issues with the roller rocker ( I've been sanding the hell out of em to make them fit ) but the roller tips seem to line up good . just need to finish spacers for rockers & gasket match manifold - head & sort out oil pick up & done . we'll put it in the car with 727 as is , just to brake in the cam then yank it out again to rebuild the 727 & finish of the engine bay . ( just so all the cam lube don't drip off it's been really hot lately in our metal shed ) . mmmm can't wait . gee it looks a bit bigger with the Indy heads & alloy rocker covers . it's gonna be a whole lot more motor than before . can't wait to see what numbers she's punching out at the tires now .

did i say minor spacer/rocker issues .
2 1/2 days later sanding / rubbing spacers & rocker arms to fit with .015" - .016" side clearance ( using feeler gauge ) .
looks like the 9" comp cams molly push rods are .120" to short . we tried .060" lash caps but the push rod angle was to great . & they want $120 for the lash caps .
so it looks like i need longer push rods
i believe the rockers are pro comp ss rockers . is there always fitting issues with roller rockers ( side clearance )
& is .015 - .016 enough clearance , allowing for heat swelling & oil ( alloy shaft towers / seats ? don't know what ya call em . ) .
it would suck to spend this much time fitting comp cams rocker's if they cost a fair whack more .

Dude! What a pain in the azz! Sounds like she is fighting you every step of the way. Very similar to my situation. The good thing is that the list of things to fix before you finish is getting much shorter. Good luck M8!
