lifter

i have a 74 duster with the 318. i took the engine out when i first started restoring it so it could be gone throght and refresed. i put it all back in but now when it runs it has a clicking noise. i found out that it was one of the lifters not priming up all the way. its a brand new lifter and i have no diea why its doing that. any suggestions on how to fix it?

will have to replace it I think. one lifter should not cost too much. (though the replacing it is a pain in the a$$) [need to check preload and cam wear on that lobe]

Just a thought.....There was a recent post about a 318 with an oversized lifter bore. See this link https://moparforums.com/forums/f62/o...d-lifter-5504/ That might cause a lifter to fail to pump-up. I'm not saying this is the case, but it wouldnt hurt to check!

incorrect break-in wouldnt cause a lifter not to pump up. (lobe wear yes) maybe it has blockage? hyd, liflters are easy to dis-assemble and re-assemble. theres 3 types of locks on a lifter. open it up check for blockage and re-assemble.. its that easy
