Anyone know how these were put in?
Are they pressed ? From factory? Needing to remove the top two to install longer studs....

I think those are part of the bracket under the dash. I think they spot weld them to the bracket in most cases... You can remove the bracket and grind the weld off and replace them....

 

Figured they had to be held somehow to keep from turning when you tightened the bolts.
They are tight. Didn't want to mess up the bracket. Looks like the stud just sticks through the firewall.
The bracket May just un bolt. Sure would be easier if it did.
I'm just looking at either fixing the m/c the best I can with an homemade bracket we came up with which places the m/c in the middle of the two upper bolts but still bolts to the bottom two also for strength. (Need longer top studs for the plate and m/c) The top two alone isn't strong enough. OR. Try and fit a floor mounted m/c assembly with peddle but not sure on room. Tough call. The floor deal would be nice. Also get everything away from heat.

 

You know...You might be rite.... That plate might just bolt from the outside threw the firewall to the pedal plate inside, and those might be pressed to the plate itself.... Try removing the inside nuts "If thats whats their" and pull it off. then you would be rite, you can just press them out and replace them with the longer stud..

 

Take the plate out Only 4 nuts on the inside holding it ... I believe they are spot welded

 

I finally got to take the bracket out & the 4 studs are pressed I believe can,t see any spot welds but that doesn't mean it's not there. I just haven't saw any evidence of welds.
It's about 15 degrees outside , I do have heat but not enough inside the garage in these temps.
So it's sitting on the bench . May try grinding the studs off then punching out the heads. Or something like that. Just have to be careful and not bend up the bracket. Will also reinforce the bracket along with grade 8 bolts so the m/c will be secure.

Rub it in hu? Lol. Maybe some day I can escape this frozen tundra. I go out for a couple hrs. Then retreat back to the warm house.
I got the studs out with the grinder a friend made a thick plate to go between the m/c & the firewall which will use all four bolts with the top two securing the m/c should be much stronger , then I'm going to reinforce the bracket on the inside. Looks like i'm going to leave the m/c close to its original position. Just moved up to the top 2 bolts.
The only mounts they sell attach the m/c in the middle dead center the four studs.
I may need to drill anouther hole in the peddle above the original to make the pushrod more of a straight shot it's slanted down a little but worked ok. But that would probably change the ratio, so not sure.

The m/c is all bolted up . The plate allowed me to use all four studs to mount it inbetween m/c and firewall. Much stronger ,then used the top two for m/c.
