What is this part on the valve cover?
This is on a 1978 360 2 bbl and it's had the carb and air cleaner replaced. It's a Federal vehicle so it had some smog stuff but the po took a lot of stuff off when it no longer had to be smogged in WA.
This part has 2 electrical connectors and 3 vacuum nipples. Only one has a hose on it but leads nowhere...it's just laying there open.
First, is this what is known as the vacuum amplifier?
Second, do I even need it? It seems to be running ok without it plugged anywhere.
Third, will disconnecting the juice cause any problems?
Thanks.

I don't know if the 78 trucks were lean burn or not, if so it wasn't uncommon to remove it. Carb and ignition would be changed leaving most of the vacuum lines useless.

Also the control box for the lean burn was part of the air cleaner.

All that is the rite stuff for that van..... The carb is correct... Just an FYI
The Sol. Is a vacuum delay.... If I remember rite it was used for Deacceleration Pod... Emission related.....
The carb is a holley 2 barrel and was OEM for 1978 on those vans.... Its the rite one.....
The air cleaner asm... Should be a plan jane.... Nothing hooked to it but the breather from the valve cover....
These as far a I know are Not Lean Burn systems.... They take the regular 5 pin Ingition ECU.....
