1952 Ivy Green Metallic/Gull Grey New Yorker 331 ci

Hello Again

Got the car plated today Sept 6 2013.

I am currently the 3rd owner of this Beauty. @ 94 000 miles

Our car has been sitting in a garage since 2000 ( properly supported)

Going tomorrow morning to get the car from the seller.

Chrome isnt that bad, but it needs some buffing.

331 ci Fire Power, can`t wait to start this up !

I need to find the build plate on the car. Found a site with the 1952 Chrysler Colors, whant to know exactly what color mine was originaly.

I cant drive it for the time being as it needs some love. Tranny has to be reinstalled and i want to go over all aspects of the mechanics of this car.

Steering, brakes, drive train and powerplant.

So i will be needing some help with decoding the VIN 7211512 .
I those days did they have a build sheet ? Or just the tag ?

Thanks in advance for any info.

PS. Looking for a shop manual

Sunday 07/09/2013 Day 2

Well today we dragged the car over our pit at the garage .. with a lawn tractor !

Emptied all the parts from the trunk ... found some excellent things.

Removed the sheets on the seats, pulled rear seat out and clean underside + carpet. Found a longtime dead mouse under the seat and its nest.

In Trunk.

Cans of bolts, bulbs and new seal beam, flasher thomsol, switches for tranny etc..

Some chrome moldings (very nice) lamp bezels, body chrome, antenna, door mirror, exterior sun visor (see through green)

A box with a front vent window ( tinted, btw the car has green tint all around ) In another box 6 wheel cylinders and a master kit (brand new with invoices 2007 )
All the transmission parts, clutch looks new, flyweel is nice, transmisson seems too function ( all new seals )

Then we started by turning the motor over via the flexplate it turns !
Bench test the starter with a battery, took a few shots to activate solenoid seemed good, install lower bell housing, starter, pop in a battery; test a few electric gizmos.
- Wipers work 2 speed.
- Flashers are good all around, head lamps good ...cant test reverse or brake
- Horn works loud an clear
- Heater blower works

Turn switch to on, test + on coil good, on points good, OKAY try starter ....click , click click.

Starter engages but has not much torque .... remove starter, disassemble ...clean up and test ...seem`s good .... reinstall ... it turns over, blink at coil .. need some gas now ....wont start ...weak fire at coil ...dig out old coil .... fire still weak but better ...still wont start .... no fire at plug ...WEAK FIRE

ah well tomorrow is another day ...love the sound of that horn !

No popping yet !

Ordered a point kit and a coil, and a wire set that can be fitted to any V8.

Ordered a 6 volt battery (13" x 7" x 9") 1095CA 950 CCA

Valve cover set.

But i will need a carb kit for this car ....it leaks

Checked a bit the brake system ...lines have been by passed from the booster.

But the booster looks new .... compared to the rest of the car.

And i removed a large chunk of Ziebart or something from the drive shaft area ...wow like new metal ...but its painted sort of a clear metallic purple ( cant find color like this in 52 ....strange.

Will post some pic's tomorrow
