2005 Flame-Red SRT-4

So heres the story of my 2005 SRT-4.

Had ALWAYS wanted one of these since they came out. I fell in love instantly.

I bought the car in February from a used car lot (Last time ever). I got shafted on the car big time, it ran like crap, had issues, but so far now, I've got her running very well...

MIL was on, short shifter was garbage, it stalled and bucked, MIL would flash. Joy.

The guy who owned this car before me was a COMPLETE DUMB ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! AND SHOULD NEVER TOUCH A CAR AGAIN

I've put almost 10k miles on it since I bought it, and am loving it so much now. Drove it from Seattle to Atlanta 2 weeks after I bought it, with all of its issues.

A stock turbo and cat were put in before I bought the car. So far I've put back on the car:

-Stock cold pipe
-ALL Vacuum lines replaced and routed correctly
-Stock WGA (Waste gate actuator)
-Stock Bypass valve
-MAP sensor
-Shifter cables
-Shifter itself
-Stock fuel pump and wiring fixed
-Boost Gauge
-STOCK Fuel injectors
-PCV
-Timing belt and water pump w/ tensioner
-IAT sensor

Lucky for me I know how to make deals. I've put in less then $1,000 with all these parts.

I only have one month left down here in Atlanta before returning home, and finally making a big boy pay check.

Thats when I'll get more things done.

Future plans are:

-Get rid of the Injen cold air intake for a MOPAR cold air intake
-Get rid of the dump for the exhaust on it with new factory or MOPAR exhaust
-Possibly projector head lights
-Possibly different tail lights
-MSD Coil and plug wires
-Paint the valve cover
-Find stock wheels
-Possibly slotted rotors all the way around

Now for a time line of pictures...

Nice Nick!

I think it looks better without a wing. Are you going to de-badge it? What about those head light "lids" (please tell me those are going away too)?

The car has already been debadged. But I'm going to find the correct badges and put them back on.

I always liked the way they looked with the eye lids before I owned one. It gave it something to stand out (aside from the HUGE FMIC)...

The eye lids were already on when I bought it and they usually break when they get removed. And I've heard of heat cracking on the head light lens resulting from the eye lids.

So for now, they stay on. And I'm considering getting these projector head lights:

Soooo some new updates.

I installed a Wideband AEM UEGO Air/fuel ratio gauge in my SRT4. Nice to be able to monitor what its doing! I took a stock gauge pod (boost gauge) and carved it up with a dremel. Made my own bracked to hold the gauge onto the pod and used self tapping screws to install the pod next to the boost gauge.

Also went to PRE Racing in Portland and was able to get a couple dyno pulls...

Essentially stock aside from cold air intake, intercooler and 3" mid section in the exhaust.

Made 252 WHP and 280 Ft/lb tq. Thats about 15 - 20 more WHP then completely stock.

I got it for an okay price. And its almost paid off. All the parts I mostly got were given to me. Vacuum lines, wastegate actuator, bypass valve, ect. Brand new boost gauge was only $100. Hard to find an OEM boost gauge new anymore.

Reading back on this over a year and a half ago, I dont know what I was thinking with some stuff..

Kept the 17x7 wheels. They look great and Ive yet to see one other SRT with them. Have upgraded the fuel pump. Added some aftermarket goodies. Bought the nicest exhaust system possible. Full 3" Turbo back exhaust. A handheld tuner that allows data logging. Ect.

Ran 13.30 @ 105. 120k miles. Original axles. 1.87 60ft.

I use to have a friend ( long story, don't ask ) and we drove cross country in his 04, I think. My only problem with the SRT4, is I don't like 4 door cars. You have NO IDEA how bad I wish my Avenger was 2dr. IHMO, had Dodge made a 2dr version, and gone AWD, they would have flown off the dealership lots.

Car looks great tho. We'll have to get together some time, maybe after I get my car good and broke in, and do some racing . I'll have to pick your brain about modern performance. I'd like to get my Avenger down to the low 13's.
