My Mopar Pedigree

Here are a few pictures I found recently while going through some scans I made a couple of years ago. Can't say I didn't come by my Mopar habit honestly...

My grandparents with me standing beside my uncle's brand new '67 GTX. Red with white interior, 440 automatic. He traded it for a '69 Hemi Road Runner, said it was the biggest mistake of his life; the 4 speed Hemi car was nearly impossible to launch. Dump the clutch and it was up in smoke, try and ease it out and it bogged. Yes, it had been uber-tuned.

The last new car my granddaddy ever bought, a '69 Fury III he bought just before he died in Jan 1970. He wanted my grandmother and his teenage son to have something new that they wouldn't have to worry about.

The one I grew up with. My parents traded a '65 Mustang (Not a bad one itself, with a 289 4 speed) for this 383 Charger. They kept it for ten years, selling it in 1979 just as I was getting old enough to really get into cars.

Oh yeah, just drove it this weekend for the first time in forever. We've had so much rain over the winter I'm mildewing. I added some new photos a couple of weeks ago to my gallery on my home page. For whatever reason it isn't allowing me to post videos; it won't even accept a youtube link.

Great pictures! Thanks for adding the captions.
I totally agree that when you love cars, they become icons of different eras for your family.
Do you have any newer pics?

Parked alongside a B-25 Mitchell at a Blue Angels airshow a few years ago.

Sitting in the hotel parking lot during one of my first trips to Emerald Coast Cruisin' in Panama City Beach.

Probably my favorite picture of the car, taken while getting ready to line up for a memorial cruise to honor a MPD officer who was killed in the line of duty.

The memorial cruise underway.

Sitting in front of Graceland, waiting on the King..

Rode around one Sunday morning looking for cool places to snap some photos.

Westbound on I-10 crossing Mobile Bay, headed home from Florida.

Emerald Coast Cruisin' in PCB. Had to drive 600 miles to run into some friends...

Lets see, Grant banjo steering wheel, Stewart Warner gauges in a custom panel made for me by a friend at FedEx, Moon tach, Hurst ProMatic II shifter, a Vintage Air hvac hanging just below and in the glove box, a/c controls, Kenwood stereo and an aux power port. What we used to call a cigarette lighter...

PT Cruiser seats are really comfortable if a little tall. At this point I'm not about to start cutting the mounts down..

Got the ink done on my last trip to Emerald Coast Cruisin'; the first real cosmetic change I've made to it.

Thirsty little engine. 360's got power out the wazoo but a 13 gal tank x 12 mpg = lotsa stops. It's not miles per gallon, it's smiles per gallon...

Very photogenic set of wheels!
Don't worry, you are surrounded by guys who accept the 12mpg (or less)! I get about 11 around town and 17 highway. I have fun doing it and I don't mind stopping for fuel.
A 20 gallon tank helps a lot in my set up, but I can definitely feel the difference when the tank is full. My get up from a stop suffers badly...
(20gal x 6lbs per gal = 120lbs of fuel! Whoa!)

I don't mind it's appetite the least, I built it to drive. It's only been on a trailer twice; once when I brought it home and once when I took it for exhaust. And I had to borrow the trailer both times! Otherwise it's gone everywhere it's been under it's own power. I'm proud of every rock peck, windshield star, drip dribble and smell it has, sign of a driver and not a garage queen.

No, it's a DuPont color called Spectramaster blue. It's a single stage Centari paint job that was sprayed in '99. Neat color actually, if you look at the pictures you can see it lightens and darkens according to the light that hits it. I've had folks ask if it was Petty blue, or Ford Grabber blue also. Besides being a pretty color I like it because it's easy to match being a solid color with no metallic or pearl to booger things up. Plus 99% of the time it's the only blue hotrod at any show or cruise-in I go to; most everything else is red or black. Just like owning a Dodge, it's good to be different...

Very nice street rod. I love the picture of it sitting beside the B-25, might be one of the coolest pictures I seen

I guess I'm lucky, got to get several shots of my old Charger parked alongside the B-17 Memphis Belle. For about ten years I was on the restoration and maintenance crew, up until the Air Force Museum reclaimed her and took her to Dayton.

Gotcha, I had a '95 LeBaron GTC droptop that I was in the same boat in. Car was the most fun car to drive I've ever had, handled like a go cart but I had to have the trans overhauled, cost me almost as much as I paid for the car.

Great vids!
Looks like it's got some great take off while rolling.
Was that throttle bump without downshift?
If you didn't downshift, I am definitely impressed!

No it definitely downshifted, Thing is still scary fast though, 360 horses in a 2600-ish pound car will make you pay attention. While it was down last year for the Vintage Air install I took the opportunity to replace the seals in the 904 and while I had it out and opened up I also installed a TransGo kit.

A shot from Cars & Coffee last Saturday, my '36 Dodge with a friend's '48 Plymouth and another friend's '37 Dodge. Yes the '37 has a '38 front end. Two of our hotrod group were missing, they each have a '40 Plymouth, one a coupe and the other a 2 door sedan.

Kind of a "then vs now" thing I did a few years ago with the help of a beautiful friend of mine.
