But i would just throw on two edlebrock 500s (depending on how built the motor its of course) since edlebrock and carter are almost the exact same thing.

I am also going with this set up. I also have decided on carter afb's (600 cfm). You can find them on Ebay/Craigs List for around $50. I just picked one up that came from a "running" vehicle. It is still new looking so figured it would be decent. Even with a kit they are still cheap and not much to them. 78 is correct in that they are basically the same. If you go with new carbs edelbrock does have 500's that are calibrated for 2x4 set up out of the box, but I think they reccomend 600's for big block apps. If you buy a new intake it comes with new primary and secondary jets, as a starting point for tuning.
