727 torqueflite trans pan

727 torqueflite trans pan

i can,t seem to seal my trans pan. pan does not seem damaged. Ive used cork and rubber gaskets, silicon and dry. Ive torqued it from 12 to 16 ft lbs. Any suggestions?

Tom I have to ask, are you using an X pattern to torque the pan ? Have you put a straight edge across the pan in various places ? I would try about 20 lbs also.

like polara said, go opposite when you torque
one side, then another, etc.

My not be the pan. The dipstick tube is right above the pan and if the "O" ring is bad or leaking it will run to the pan rail and drip all around the pan and look like the pan is leaking. Check that before you go too much further.

Welcome. You might also want to check where the housing and tail shaft housing meet for a leak.

problem with tran pan leak solved

Thanks Crazyforcarz ...
after many frustrating hours trying to solve the problem your suggestion was the answer ...I replaced the O-ring on the dip stick and no leaks ...thanks for the advise . all of the other suggestions were things I had already done but thanks for your responses .

Transmission pan

Hi, i have just bought a 69 newport and the transmission pan is about 3 inches to the ground
Really worried, it looks really deep and is made of alloy.
Wondered if it was aftermarket and maybe change it for a shallower one.

This is a time when you should have started a new thread but yes a stock pan and filter should fix the issue…
