A-727TF rebuild troubleshoot help

I have a 1970 Plymouth Fury III with 318 and the transmission specified in title, i am in process of rebuilding the 727tf however having some difficulty with the disassembly having never done a rebuild before im not sure if im missing something or there is something wrong with tranny.

The problem: per instruction manual after having taken off the pump and the kickback band i should be able to pull on the input shaft and the shaft along with the front and rear clutch retainers should slide out as an assembly, however the shaft and rear assembly are stuck and no amount of force will pull them out though the front retainer slides right off the shaft. so question is did i miss a snap ring or bolt omewhere locking this in place?

side note: taking the governer off and trying to slide both input and output shaft together along with the clutches in between does not work either.

Have you pulled the valve body out yet? I think that there is a large "snap ring" that holds them in....... could be wrong though, it has been quite some time since I have had a 727 apart.

iv taken the valve body out and released+removed the large kickdown band that goes around the front cluth and theres a rear kickdown band that iv released but cannot remove until the parts that i am unable to get out are removed.

the toms hand guide really doesn't have a section on the input shaft where I'm having the trouble i only really see the output shaft section that comes after. the other link to the hand drawn schematic im having a hard time finding a peice that would hold it in on from the picture.

I will consult my manual if you still haven't figured it out by the weekend, but if you post some pics of what you have left together, we may be able to see what is holding you up.

well i found a guy that lives nearby and works on the Chrysler proving grounds he said that its all kinds of messed up in there and i was right in that its supposed to slide right out, but theres stuff grinding in there and its welded itself together so hes gonna break it apart for me and we gonna go from there but most likely its more than a simple rebuild kit fix.

Once you have the pump out and the band out, you'l see the drum, shell, shafts, ect.

Theres a snap ring that holds the input shaft on. Slide it off, and a few things will slide out.

I believe there is another snap ring inside you have to take out then the whole thing should just come out.

Theres also a snap ring holding the tailshaft on, and one holding the output shaft on
