85 gran fury rearend

i guess the stock 7 1/4 rearend couldnt handle the abuse of my 17yr old little brother!

We called all the junkyards within 150 miles and still cant find any 80s furys, dippys, new yorkers, or fifths.

So the question is are there any other mopar rearends that will easily fit under the beast without major mods?
Did any of the 80s light duty trucks use the same rearends?

thanks

where in IL are you? and I would go with an 8-1/4 that was in some of these cars, 2.9-3.2 would be good for daily driver duty.

I scrapped 4, good (not mechanically "broken") 7-1/4s a few years ago; I couldn't even get $25/ea, drum to drum out of them. 7-1/4s are weak junk from the word "go",
all 4 of these were from Aspens/Volare's a direct swap to your car.

we found an 81/4 for it and yes the 71/4 was junk. my other brother had the same kind of car and blew out 2 71/4s in 5 years.

Go with the 8 1/4, it "should" last longer. Make sure to go through it though before installing it and make sure that your bearings and ring and pinion all look good.
