Had just about made up my mind on wondering into the local speed shop tomorrow to pick up a Hurst Promatic to sit up over my 904 behind the angry 318 under the hood, when i did a stupid thing and started researching the B&M ratchet shifter equivalent - bad move. The B&M shifter is about 30-40% more expensive in most parts stores on line - usually there is a reason for this price increase? Anyone got any good advise/experience here????

 

With B&M, your paying for the name. I have a B&M sport shifter in my jeep and love it. It was easy to install, easy to use, strong, everything i wanted. I probably could have gone with a different brand that does the same thing, but I just happen to love B&M and have always had great luck with their products.

Hurst is another great company from what i have heard from other's use have used their products but have no first hand experience with them.

 

Talk around to some of the people in your area and see if they will let you try their shifter and see how you like it.

 

Thought that might be the case? How easy was you shifter to install? hoping the promatic is an easy job.Will talk to the transmission shop to see if they have any experience with this or the B&M Quicksilver - cheers!!

 

Mine was extremely easy to install. the thing that took the most time was shaving the base to fit the tranny hump.

 

cheers guys - going into sort out the high stall next week so will do a little more digging on the shifter too!!!!
