Low speed lurching
Low speed lurching
Hi all. I'm having some difficulties with my small block. I thought I had it tuned ok as it was hardly running before and now it starts and drives. The problem is, At low speed it is feeling like it is trying to surge forward or lurching forward. Is this a fuel issue or timing? It is a 4 speed and the motor seems to have a decent size cam of unknown specs. This is a newly rebuilt motor although at least 12 months ago but has only done a few miles. It has a new Edelbrock carb, in the 600-650 CFM range so that seems right. I have one on my 361 and it is a great and easy to tune carb.
Any help would be most welcome.

try this first readjust the float level to 5/16, but not higher. stock is 7/32. dont forget with the lid upside down a smaller dimension is a higher fuel level. or the carb idle circuit is lean. that was very common on the chrysler AVS starting in 1968. not hard to fix. but takes some text. test it by covering with your hand the air horn at idle. if the RPM goes up you have a lean idle.
