Please decode

Thanks for the great help on this forum.I am in need of decoding the VIN.I tried web sites and came up empty.I think it reads m14bf56017600.If you see my error please correct me.Thanks.Kurt.

It is my only picture.I took it at the junk yard about 40 miles away.Perhaps you may help me without the vin.Will a 1975 1/2 ton 318ci/727 bolt right up to my 1977 w200 318/727 transfer case?

Okay what I deciphered from that picture is that the VIN is W14BF5S047600 which would make this truck a 1975 Dodge W10 Conventional Cab with Sweptline box. If you would like to know any more information about this vehicle I can help you find some.

The output shaft and tail housing are different between the two.

So Dodge used one transfer case for the w100 and a somewhat different one for the w200?

Sorry I was thinking that it was a 2wd transmission you wanted to use in a 4x4. That question is asked here alot.

NP203 (Full Time Transfercase 1975-1979) should swap out without any issues....... Just my 2 cent.
IF your trying to use the NP205 in place of the NP203 without knowing your doing so???, then your trying to mismatch parts, That will be the issue.

Thanks a bunch for the great advice that I get here.It is really great you guys chip in here on this site.
I agree with others that say "rebuild what you have"But just checking a few things on my engine and trans has convinced myself that there is not much left to rebuild.I'm afraid from experience that I do not have rebuild-able cores.1st "non racing" 727 I've seen destroyed.
