congrats! But dont worry too much about the temp of the wires within reason. Wires are rated in centigrade for current capacity and insulation protection, i.e. 75 and 90 deg c are very common. I dont have a conversion in front of me, but 75deg c is around 225f. One size up from factory would be good, 2-3 sizes if you mount the battery in the trunk.

Quick rule on C to F conversion Scotty, 0 degrees centigrade is the freezing point of water, 100 degrees Centigrade is the boiling point of water.

100*c = 212*F therefore 75*c does not = 225*f

Thank you, I have now been "skooled"! All I know about metrics is the song the sang in the Schoolhouse Rock thing during cartoons. But I am all set with Conjunction Junction!

Damn you Scottie! Now that song will be going thru my head the rest of the day... "Conjunction Junction, what's your function...."

Nother thing on those starters, I bought one to use on my '71, and the header pipe wouldn't clear the solenoid. I know it's a smaller starter, but look at the pics, and it's actually farther out than on the old big ones.

lol you think conj. junc. bad bucc, try this 1, my 12 year old comes home from the music store bout a month ago. its kiss love gun. which Im not that fond of, I grew up wen they were hot, and didnt care much for them. ( a motor head fan) what can i say i love Lemme. anywho, when he hit shock me, that F**k`n song has staid in my head for the last month now.Ill start doin somthin and dododo dodo dodiddodo. cmon n shock me.. Oh My G ahhhhhhh. So I tell a buddy, he starts laughin at me. so every now n again I send him a text. cmon n shock me. lol he sends back, wheres the love, that is so wrong. on the starters. yes the wiring isnt long enough you need to lengthen the ends. so they dont hit the exhaust.alot of it on the heat is the voltsge, your like overloading it, its sending more juice to it for the gear reduction, so the selonoid cant handle it. theese starters dont need the extra juice to kick them over. something the tech boys dont tell you on the hop up conversion articles.
