running poorly
running poorly
65 Chrysler 300 , car was running fine then it just started running rough plugs are new wires are new no vacuum leaks is it possible the timing suddenly jumped? car "chugs" at low speed, any ideas?

Almost anything from a spec of dirt in the idle circuir in the carb to a blown diode in the alternator. (The last one really surprised me...)
Does it get worse under load (physical or electrical)?
Is it all the time now or does it come and go?
Does it run file as you increase the throttle?
Have to checked the timing yet?
If the dizzy is locked down, a slipped timing chain is possible.
I know nothing about points, but you said the wires and plugs are new, if you have points, did you change those too?
Just a few things off the top of my head.

timing is OK and there is about 45000 on the motor. car still runs OK even though its misfiring so i don't think the timing chain jumped. its probably something simple I'm just over looking. i just changed the carb but it wasn't the culprit
just for the hell of it i started it and started pulling plug wires off the dizzy and it seems I'm not firing on 1,3,4. when i pulled these wires there was no noticeable change in the motor

And what does the inside of your distributor cap look like? (Are there equal burn tracks on all the terminals?)
You said the wires are new. Did you assemble them and is there a chance of a bad crimp on the wires in question and have to ask this (because I did it once), are you sure the wires in question were fully snapped on the plugs?

one wire burnt through from exhaust manifold . other two seem to be OK but replaced them anyway #1 now firing 3 seems to be firing also but I'm not sure on #4 still no noticeable change when i pull the wire still seems to be running rough.
im looking at my service manual and the numbers dont correspond whit what i have could the after market dist have somthing to do with that? im afraid to change them and then ill never get them back the way they are lol
what the heck is going on i had a "guy replace the dist about 6 months ago could he have buggered it up this bad ?
is it possible he installed the dist wrong and then wired it so it would run?
it did take him extremely long to do any opinions?

Do you know how to find TDC/on compression on cylinder #1? If not, a google search will help. Then check the firing order and rewire the distributor if necessary.
And no, unless you're using a rectifier type dizzy (not even sure if they make them for Mopars, an after market dizzy can't change the firing order.
If the guy who put the dizzy in messed it up, it should have been apparent the first time you tried to accelerate, if not just at idle.
