To spool or not to spool...this is the question

KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SPOOLS, OTHER THAN ITS WHAT ALL THE DRAGSTERS USE. WHAT IS THE DRAWBACK FOR STREET USE, IF ANY OR IS THERE A HIDDEN COST IN INSTALLATION OR SOMETHING? IF I CAN USE IT ON THE STREET I DONT SEE A DOWN SIDE. INPUT AND THOUGHTS PLEASE.
THANKS!

A spool is made for straight line only... When you make a turn both rear wheels turn at exactly the same RPM. Even if one has to spin, hop or what ever.... Very dangerous on a wet or damp road.. Will spin you out!!! Would not advise to use on the street... Use a limited slip... JMO.......

Being that you too are in Florida, and know the usual afternoon road conditions...thats all I needed to hear. I think I will opt for the standard sure grip. Thanks again MReeves.

Since I just saw you were a drag moderator, can I ask your opinion on wheel spacers...used primarly for street but of course plan to go to the strip...Is there anything I should be weary of or just take them off when I go to the track or what?

If you have spacers, do the research on them. I've seen some the studs shear right off and cause some damage that could have been avoided with just the proper backspacing wheel. This is off-roading as well.

I'd only run spacers in the front IF you have to, especially seeing that all the power and torque is going to the back axle.

Just as Tim has already said.. I do not like them either... I have ran them on one car with no problems. But, you need to make sure your studs are long enough to the threads out of your lug nuts and make sure the spacer is no bigger than 1/2". Torque your lugnuts EVERY week. But the proper way is thru backspacing of your wheels or proper length of your axel tubes......
