using 360 heads on a 318 .

guy's a mate has a std bore 318 in a aussie vf 2 door hardtop ( aussie dart ) the car has 45k miles on it & it's mint condition . it's a fire ball 318 matching numbers engine . anyway he has my old 318 & 904 that he wants to hot up . he's wanting as much power as he can without going to over the top . he's hoping for a ruff figure of 350ish hp . he's got a bit of but not bucket loads . he can't afford a stroker set up & dosn't want a 360 crate , just build up the 318 . he's comming over tomorrow to have a chat about a build plan . this is my plan so far : indy aerohead big valve 360 heads 67-70cc open chambers,160cc inlet ports,2.02in & 1.60ex valves, .509"springs, bronze guides ect all rebuild $500 a pair . edelbrock rpm or rpm air gap manifold , 650-750 carb , lunati cl20-230-4 .502/.511lift , 274*/282* , 242*@.050 or comp cam 20-247-4 .495/.495 lift , 282*/282* , 236*@.050 i'm thinking solid for the most power with leased compression & maxing those .509 valve springs . if money is getting tight he'll just have to go a hyd & use his std rockers . i want him to use new eagle sir rods & kb hypotectic pistons with 1.810 comp hight & floating pins . we need at leased 9.1:1 - 9:5:1 compression . ( iron heads ) we have 98 octane pump gas over here . i'm hoping to be able to internally balance this engine ? if not so be it , i don't know if we'll be able to reach the compression need with those 360 open chamber heads with out machining block & heads . which i'd rather not have to do because then we'd need to do the manifold as well . machining costs money & it'll blow out the costs with balancing , bore & honing , skim decking , fit cam bearings , maybe hone little end , acid clean block , crank grind ect ect . + shipping costs from US TO OZ . need a stall convertor probaly a 2500-2800 & at leased a bolt in sprag & reverse patern shifter to keep things safe . if he thinks that's to much $ he'll just have to do with a hyd cam & keep engine rpms down to 5800 max with a bit less power . whats your thoughts ?? are his goals achiveable using the 318 & a budget of under $4500-$5000 keeping in mind maybe about $700-$800 will be shipping . little things like oils , plugs & leads & dizzy & air cleaners will all add up but that can be later as far as i'm concerned . oh & a windage tray . if you's have a better plan by all mean let me know or what have you guy's built & what sort of power or 1/4 mile times have you's got out of 318cid & a abody car ??? thanks heaps .
