obviously the plate is "sandwiched" between the gaskets. Is this a slant six?

I might be confused now. I dont remember two gaskets on th slant or a plate. But, it has bee a while since i've done one. some one help me, I'm out to the kitchen to make a gasket sandwich with mayo and pickles. Might cut it on a slant too, just to be different. (hehehe) [I like the donut burgers personally]

I have a slant 6 and i replaced the water pump recently. If i recall right its paper metal paper. What i did was butter (like if you were to butter a sandwich he he) the gasket that goes against the block with gasket silicone then installed. Your problem might be the bolts, did you install them in the exact same spot where they came from? (very important)
