water pump mystery?
water pump mystery?
Found a couple of drops of antifreeze on the bottom of the harmonic balancer. Think it's the water pump. My problem is, I have a 1973 360 and the current water pump has the lower radiator hose coming off of the drivers side. It seems like all of the water pumps I find on line for a 73 360 have the lower rad hose coming out the passenger side. I have a chrysler products (#2582942) 22" radiator and the bottom hose comes out the drivers side and fits like a glove with my current set up. Any ideas where I can find this pump with drivers side outlet?
O.k....I looked up a water pump housing for '66 Belvedere.....No 360 available then so I used a 318 (same block). Results look very much like the pump thats on the car now. Any pitfalls I might run into? or should there be no doubt that an mid 60's water pump for a 318 will bolt up to a '73 360? I suppose I can send it back if it doesn't fit.
273,318,340,360 all bolt up the same !!! As to your problem It looks like a 67 A100 318 vehicle comes up with the correct style WP

Are you replacing the housing or just the pump? Can you tell where the leak is from, may be able to do the pump and the gasket for the housing.
I see an A-1 Cardone #58176 pump that fits that application.

Looks like it's coming from the bottom of the housing. Might just be the gasket, but I figure I might as well put a new pump on if I'm tearing her apart. Not sur, but I think it's all one unit, but that's a guess.
It is all one unit.
It is common for pumps to develop leaks--they have a "weep hole" below the bearing so that if the seal leaks, the bearing will last awhile before complete failure occurs
You don't have to resort to an A-100, just look up YOUR CAR
use a 273 CID V8. The 318 may be the same pump, but in 66 a 318 was a poly engine, NOT the LA that you are familiar with, which includes 273, LATE 318, 340, 360
