What wires?

The 'Bird is fired, but that is just the start of it. Still runs rough and backfires through the carb. the plug wires are old and I should change them. what recommendations do you folks have? I have headers on a 383, heddmans I think. they look very close to the plugs, got some insulation on them, but I would like to see what you other Big Block guys are doing. What brands of, or types of wire looms or seperators have worked well for you? Thanks guys.

i run the same headers
i like them
you need new wires
make sure they are long enough, then you wont have any issues with it hitting the header
i'd reccommend accell wires
7-8mm wires are good

Thanx, that will be this weekends paycheck. Do you use any insulation for the plugs ends?

i don't, because if the wires are long enough, and routed correctly, you wont need them

but, i have considered putting them on
and, if you arent really into the all-stock thing, i would put them on just for protection

Just my 2 cents worth ,if you have the give Jag's a call and get a set of MSD wires and insulated sleaves headed your way . I have used about 5 diffrent wire brands on the Dart ,charger's and 4 diffrent race car's . The MSD have stood up the best and longest with a rough and hot life.

Thank you all for the advice! Being OCD bastard that I am, I did some searching on the web and learned alot about the wires out there. It seems as the only quantifiable difference is durability, heat resistance and longevity. The current capacity, impedance and the other #'s thrown around seem to mean very little in actual testing. While a "solid" wire would seem the best from a purely resistance standpoint, RF interference aside, the wires seem limited by the physics of what actually happens in a high voltage situation. I.e. the "corona effect". What it boiled down to was the differences were so minimal between $30 and $90 wires, was that you'd get a bigger performance gain by dieting and losing 10lbs. Maybe C4C with a 10sec car could find, or tell a difference, but for most of us, it probably wont matter.

Sounds like you went to school for the day. For the street car /wifes car and my Daytona I get the Bosch at AutoZone. They have a life time Warrenty I think. Sorry I never thought to mention them. I guess I get stuch in a rut with the race and killer Street cars. I have a set of the Orange Mopar wires for my Dart when I bring it back out on the Street. So I dont always use the Summit Jags stuff either.

I like to read...Knowledge is POWER!....Free your mind and your *** will follow! HaHa. Whenever I need to do something, I read, ask opinions, then act on what info seems to be the common thread between all the sources. Told ya I was OCD!

Well, went with the Accells. Universal straight plug. A little on the short side, limited on the routing choices. What I really need is a mix of straight and 90 deg plugs, and maybe a few in between! Guess I'll watch everyones pix for routing ideas from now on.
