383 c body parts....
383 c body parts....
Time for some changes on the 1968 newport again.
Currently:
383 with dual 2.5 inch exhaust, holley 4150 650 cfm carb performer series intake
What I need now....
Looking for a set of headers or hi flow manifolds. Love the idea of the tti stuff but it is WAY too expensive.
Also looking for a posi traction rear end to replace the factory 2.73 open end diff..... Thoughts and suggestions please.
Thanks

You already have an 8 3/4 rear diff, SO you just need to find one I would look for a 3.23 or 3.55 gear ratio A good one will cost maybe $4-500 not cheap.. up to $1k for a rebuilt with new sure grip. If gas mileage is a concern go with the 3.23. ?? As a street car I would keep the 2.5 duals Or maybe go to a 3" system with some flow master mufflers.
My 67 coronet that I used to have ran low 14's 100mph with stock exhaust with duals, with 360 motor

And as far as the 3:23, it's a good choice but, I made the 2.76 to 3.23 Sure Grip swap in a C-body years ago, and wished that I had gone with 3.55s.
A C-body is heavy and the single step didn't make as much of a difference as I was hoping for in dead stop acceleration.
On the plus side of the 3:23s is that my Fury would peg the speedometer every time!
Just a thought.
thanks guys. where would you suggest to find one of the said rear replacements. i have been looking for about a month now without finding anything without buying a new one for $1000+
