383 clicking noise

I have a 72 challenger with a 383. Noticed a clicking noise coming from the driver side of the engine. It does not seem to get faster when you mess with the throttle. Also it doesn't seem to be at a constant interval. Any ideas?

...could be but I am not 100% sure, might be the heat riser in the exhaust manifold. sometimes the coil gets weak and they make a noise. Ive also heard power steering pumps make weird noises.

Did you ever solve this?

My dodge monaco(66) with the 383 had a intermittent clickijng/tapping noise on the drivers side too, turned out to be the power steering pump. try removing the PS belt and see if the noise goes away. Mine did. I ordered a reman pump and should get it soon

cheers
