383 Dyno @ Nick's Garage

I've seen a few questions about the 383 power levels, which cam etc. this is a nice little 383 with little more than a 9.1:1 compression ratio, with headers not manifolds that made 401 hp. That's not bad so watch and pay attention on the cam information.

feeling better about my factory manifolds..I'm not far off from that setup - I'm thinking one big diff.is such a perfectly tuned carb.. love it, thanks for posting that,.

They might work on a 383 but they hurt a 440 more just because of the 60 additional cubes. If I was picking out a street cam for the 440 I would use one around 230 235, with the addition cubes you would need additional duration to equal the cam performance in that 383.
you do the same thing going from 440 to 500cid.
