400 cylinder head & intake issue

Hey gearheads, the left side intake passageway for the #3 cylinder gets so hot the paint discolors on the intake. The intake is an Edelbrock performer RPM with an air gap. I was told this happens because the cyl head exhaust ports "cross over" each other at #3 and #5. Does this make any sense to anyone? I realize painting the intake holds in more heat. If I had't painted the intake I may have never noticed the dicoloration. Thanks for your input. Happy New Year all.

Did you use the crossover delete gasket? The ones without the holes for the crossover?
But yes.. That would seen to normal for the most part...

Just my 2 cents..

To Racerhog, I assume the prof engine rebuilder used the delete gasket, I'll have to ask him.
After taking a closer look, the other side of the intake is also discolored but slightly. Hard to tell without a lead light on it. Guess theres really nothing to be concerned about. Thanks for your 2 cents its worth a lot more.
