440 six pack kit

Shopping around. I'm looking to convert the 440 on my charger. I'm not sure weather I'll piece one together or just buy a new kit. Anybody have any experience with these guys >>>>

If you scroll downing the posted page you can see their full kits.

I believe that one of these is the edelbrock intake with Holley carbs.. The other is a mopar intake I believe. I'll have to give them a call.

For that kind of money I would go to fuel injection.. and eliminate all the drivability issues... ... Even if you put the 1000CFM 4 barrel EFI set up it would be more responsive then 3-2 barrel carbs. and you will only loose 50cfms the Holley 2 barrels are 350cfms X 3= 1050cfms and you would save money...Bill

Right now I've got a 1250cfm quick fuel on an edelbrock intake.. It's great for the track and staying above 3000 Rpms but I drive it almost as much as my daily. Starting is a pain after just a few trips out. I constantly have to clean my spark plugs and I mean after just a week of around town cruising. It's just not set up for anything other than haul A$$ mode at the moment. Recently I saw a video about a six pack configuration with a center 350 cfm that will take care of around town driving but it also had two outer 500cfms for when you needed to get to the grocery store in a hurry. That's a combined 1350cfm when I put my foot down. It sounds great to me but I hear mixed opinions on this.. Any thoughts or advice?

What other modifications have you done to the engine, in order to need so much air flow?

In the stock 440 setup, I am wondering if the 6 pack really had any direct impact. I know the 440 six pack engines had a bit higher compression ratio, but identical cam (?). Therefore, I am wondering if the improvement was all due to the compression ratio ...

That is why I was saying EFI would be a great set up for you...It keeps the engine running at the perfect 14.7:1 ratio idle through WOT and would give you more than enough fuel to keep your 440 running at optimum performance and save you money in the process...Bill

I just started looking into this. It sounds pretty great. It would definitely let me get out and drive a bit more. Are there any brands you recommend? I see there are tons to choose from. I don't want to sacrifice to much performance. I see the Edelbrock and Holley set ups are for under 600hp engines and I'm right up against that. There's a Fast kit that can handle up to 1000hp and it seems to have tons of good reviews. Any thoughts?

Here's the link http://www.fuelairspark.com/fas/efi-...fuel-injection

Not only does it seem to cover a wider range which would keep me from having to detune my engine, but it's about 2k cheaper and already includes the fuel pump kit unlike edelbrocks.

I have never used had any of them but reading about them I would go with the Fast set up. Due to the HP you are running. What I would do is send a PM to Bob Hogan (aka Racerhog) or Mack (aka MReeves) both of these guys are on the top of there game on this kind of stuff.. I think Mack is running A Fast set up in his Drag Pack Challenger.. But give them a shout and they can and will be glad to help you with your decision...Bill

E-Z Fast and Comp Cams kind of go hand in hand.... But you really have to get them on the mopar page when you talk to them.

The more High end unit is the Mega-Squirt 3... Lots to program, but you can change anything you dont like.

With the Edelbrock you need to look at the Pro-Flo thats the higher H.P. rated one.

The Holley unit is ok....

The Atomic is by MSD... It a good stand alone....

I like 6 packs also.... I think someone did an EFI of one of those also... I just dont remember who rite this moment...

No you got lots of more reading to do.....
Keep us posted on what you choose.....
I got my eye on this one....

The quick fuel carbs look fantastic and seem to have every adjustability possible?

Possibly getting it to a tuner would be Thousand$ less expensive.

Your plug fouling could be just an air bleed swap away!

Yes I have a ton more research to do. This is a pretty new concept to me. I had my heart set on a six pack but efi is definitely getting my attention now. I leave for basic training in two months and I don't plan on making a move till I get back in October. I will definitely keep y'all posted. Thanks for all the info. It really helps!

I agree the quick fuel carb is fantastic! My baby is tuned and everything is working perfectly for a strip car. The fouling is more the result of me changing my driving habits. When she was just a track beast it was fine but since I've had the interior completely restored and vintage air A/c and a radio and my power windows restored etc Ive been doing a ton of cruising and daily driving. I can't help but find a million around town errands to run every time the suns out. The result is a good bit more idle and low rpm time than she ever got on track days. She's set up perfectly for 3k plus Rpms. Really all I need to do is get a new intake manifold and maybe a smaller 4bbl and boom there's my daily. I've just been exploring other options. One of my buddies gas a six pack set up he's very happy with so he's been pushing that. Now I'm hearing about efi and some of its benifits. It seems like some set ups will let me keep and maybe improve my performance. Also the efis I've been looking at give me room for further upgrades down the road if I want to get back to the track. All options are on the table at the moment. I've got a busy summer and the issue is by no means going to keep me from enjoying my ride. I just clean my plugs every now and then and I'm good to go!

You could move to a hotter plug and adjust the existing carb. Also, does your distributor have a working vacuum advance? These things can really help, and they're almost free. Just saying it's worth trying the basics before throwing the kitchen sink at it.

Im personally wanting to buy F&B's new EFI six pack. maybe you could look into that as well. I called a few months back, and its nearly $5K for the whole package deal. Has potential to blow up to like 2300 cfm! Best of both worlds in my book....get that nostalgic six pack, but with a modern twist.
