'63 carb leak

'63 carb leak

I just rebuilt the carb on my '63 Dart but can't get the fuel bowl to stop leaking. Any suggestions?

Can you post a picture of the carb or at least tell us what carb you have.

The Tabs on the bowl get bent from overtightening them. Pull the float bowl and get a sheet of sand paper and sand the bowl on a flat concrete surface. Reinstall and known good gasket and that should fit the issue...

Dyno-Bob,

Thanks for the tip. But I chickened out and bought a rebuilt from someone on Ebay. I got the carb and it is in beautiful shape but when I installed it, it wouldn't let fuel enter the bowl. Long story short I took off the bowl and found that not only did the rebuilder fail to install the baffle, but he put the float spring in the wrong spot. So I fixed that and then reinstalled the carb. Back on the road, my old carb into the cleaner and then to storage... Now if I can only get my fuel gauge working consistently lol.
