70 Roadrunner oil pan

Looking for some direction on removing oil pan from 440 with engine in the car, need to replace rear main seal. Can it be done or should I bite the bullitt and pull the motor?

I think you may need to pull the motor... sorry to hear that. But just to be sure wait for a couple of Mopar experts to respond.

Thanks.

as best i remember the "C" bodys, and i guess "B" bodys can drop the pan with out completely pulling the engine. but you will have to rotate the crank so the front part is up, so the pan will slide past the "K". or might have to raise the engine off the mount some. be car full dont kack on the balance. i would not raise it to much so as to not strain the hoses ect. i have done it on 1965 300 L 413 with out raising the engine. but dont the differences between the "C" and "B" body / "K"

Remove the steering linkage and the pan will come out with a moderate amount of cursing. The trans has to come out to do a rear main seal if it's a stick.

Hey Moe, Let me ask you. How do you know if the oil pan on an 440 HP engine, is bigger 6 qt, or it's the regular oil pan. Is there an ID# on the pan itself?? Thank you so much for your time. J.R.
