Another 440 build thread
Another 440 build thread
I had started my questions in the truck threads and then I found this area.
I am building a 440 for a 78 stepside. The motor is from a 79 camper and has the 6452 heads. I am going to reuse the heads but replace the cam and the pistons. I guess my big question is, should I use the stock intake manifold or buy aftermarket? I am looking for drivability and as much HP as I can get. I know sometimes those 2 may not go hand and hand. I would be happy with anything over 300hp.
The carb that I have on the shelf is a Holley 4150 750cfm. According to the calculator, a 650 might be a better carb but 750 is what I have. Any advice on this would be great. I do plan on going with fuel injection in the future..
Thanks
Brad

I would seriously complete many cam manufacturers on line recommendation forms, your combination opens the door for a ton of cams. I would be looking in the 215-225 @ .050" duration, .450-.480" lift tops.
The double pumper is not my first choice but if I had it I'd run it, changing it later is easy when you have the money.
You should easily make 350+hp and 450+tq.
