Carter BBD 1 1/2" on LA360?

I've been toying with the idea of switching to a different carburetor but, don't want to switch to an aftermarket intake manifold.

I remember reading a post somewhere that a bigger version of the Carter BBD was used on the 360 for a short time. I can't find that source now but, I found some other stuff (screenshots attached).

The problem is when I search auto part websites for a reman listed for a 2 barrel 360 application, the results always come back with the Holley 2210/2245. No Carter fuel systems.

If it's true the 1 1/2" bore BBD was used on the LA360. What years/models? Does it share the same bolt pattern as the Holley 22xx series carbs?

The listed applications I did find where for the 361 and 383.. but, mostly the 383.

If I could get my hands a BBD with the correct jet/metering rod combo for a 360. I'd be curious to see if it would perform better than the Holly 2245 currently present.

I wonder if the BBD listed for the B361 engine application would run a LA360. 1 CID difference and both 5.9L. Of course, I'm sure there are many other variables. If it didn't run right, I highly doubt different jets/metering rods could be acquired.

Anyway, just some thoughts.

I'm stilling researching.

I found an online vendor that sells a rebuild kit for the larger bbd.
http://www.carbkitsource.com/kits/ck0072.html
"CK72 Carter BBD carburetor rebuild kit for 1 1/2"; bore used on Chrysler, Dodge. Plymouth and Chris-Craft marine"

Whats interesting is that it's listed for two applications for the 360 but, the years are prior to 1971, which is the year the 360 was released. So, I don't get that.

Found something on another part of this site.

Yes it bolts right on to the 360 about the only problem you will have is with the fuel line feeding the carb. Just put an S curve into the fuel line to mount the carb.
But, where will I found one of these LA360 BBDs? Reman units that can purchased today are listed for different engines like 361 and 383. I don't know if those units would be jetted correctly for a LA360.

Does anyone have a way to look up the application LIST numbers for the 1 1/2" bore BBD and/or the jet/metering rod numbers used for each application? Surely that information would be in an old book somewhere. People would have needed that information back in the day.

Thanks for the reply.

I knew the 361 was a big block. But was it also referred to as the 360 as well?

The only Chrysler 360 CID engines I'm aware of is the LA 360 and the later Magnum 5.9L

I'm confused as to way I'm finding all these online resources claiming the 1 1/2" bore Carter BBD was used on the 360 but, can find little else or anything official.

Still researching..

http://www.sweptline.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=34751

That post claims they pulled a large BBD off a 1973 Dodge Polara 360. I checked that vehicle application on rockauto and it comes back as using a Holley 2210.

http://www.mymopar.com/carbguide.htm

This mopar carburetor application chart only list the Hollley 2210 being used for the 2 barrel 360s from 71 to 74.

I'm confused..

Either re-manufacturers are only listing the large bore BBD for big block applications and not providing them for the LA360.

OR

I've stumbled across a large amount of misinformation regarding this subject matter and the Carter BBD was never used on the LA360.
