Ever made a tool for your car?
I'm doing a cam swap in the Charger soon. Part of the job is changing the valve springs. Summit gave a 2 week ETA on the Powermaster spring compressor, so I decided to make my own.
I suppose this would cost about $5 in materials. Please forgive the sloppy welds!

As I was thinking about your tool. Just a thought and no disrespect intended. If it had a hook type mount instead of a slide on the bar set up you could do all the valves without having to remove the bar to move the tool between the girts.. Just a thought....Bill

The reference.."hook type mount" ? Do you mean something that hooks into the intake port or an intake bolt? If so, that wouldn't work if I wanted to change springs with the intake still on. My goal was to make a tool that worked with the heads on and the engine in the car.
I need some help with degreeing the cam. I've never done it solo. I had a buddy help me in 2004 but he had a kit for doing it.

Yes if the piece you are now having to slide on the bar were a hook type set up you would not have to unbolt the bar part of the tool to get to the next set of valves. Simply unhook/hook and go to the next set. Right now you can only do 2 valves then you have to unbolt the bar to move to the next 2...Bill

Ahhh.....I get it.
Maybe in the time it tales me to find a friend willing to help me degree the cam I could mess around and fab up a hook type lever. I have plenty of metal scraps around here.
