Holley List 4749-3 Help!
Hey, it's been a while for me on here. But, anyways here is the deal. I have a holley thats marked LIST 4749-3 and need some help finding parts/what's all wrong with it. It is on a 440, it is a 4 bbl, and it has been messed with by someone who knows nothing about carburetors... My dad... (Kind of funny because the younger generation usually can't even spell carburetor....) Anyways, back in the day by some way or another he took a stock 360LA Charger and decided to drop the big block in it. That's great, except I was not alive when he did so and hardly know a damn thing about it.
The carburetor is heavily bandaid-ed with basically extreme jerry rigging. Just about every vaccum hose is plugged, it leaks fuel, it's sticky, and...... I may have used Blue RTV on accident. Only because the guy at autozone pointed to the wrong one (or I read the his pointing finger wrong... regardless it's f'd). I only used it on the fuel pressure regulator gasket and the intake manifold to carb gasket.... I know, bad right?
But, as bad as it is, I will probably fix my errors tomorrow and get something made for fuel. Or just get a gasket kit or something. My question to you guys would be....... Wtf should I do? We have a twin ram dual quad carter set up for it, but again, according to my Dad that's unoperational even though I tore through the carbs and cleaned them all.... I JUST NEED THESE DAMN GASKETS!! I was thinking about maybe replacing the holley with a single 4bbl carter AFB from the dual quad setup, but I am at a loss. Please help. Some identification/diagrams on the carb would be nice. Thanks for the help, any tips AT ALL would be helpful. Just don't call me stupid for using blue rtv, because trust me, it would be pretty redundant......

If it is a factory 440 carb ?? Trash it !! If you must have it send it to a Holley specialist for a rebuild. OR get a New Holley or a Demond carb

Mopar Lover
Here is a source..... http://www.carbkitsource.com/carbs/kits/CK048.htm
But that is the old style Mopar carb..... Lots of times the Emusion tubes get plugged in those and dont recover every well with todays fuels.. Leak... Stumble...Blow Power valves.... and so on.....
I'm with Lynn on this one.... I think a newer updated carb would make it run great. And take care of all the leaks.... More Modern seals and gaskets for the fuel...
Myself... I really like the newer style Holley Street Avenger Carbs.... I would see if there is one for the application.... The 770's work well. Or if you go the classic route a 750 or 780 should fit the tab, just fine....
The Dual Quad Carter is going to be to small to run, in my opinion...
Hang the Old Classic on the wall, It had a good run... Or like Lynn said.. Take it too a really good Holley Dude that knows his stuff to fix it....
Just My 2 cents...
Keep us posted....
