Mopar 512 Oiling problem

Hi Guys i recently installed in my Cuda the new 512 Engine .. after 2 month and 1000 miles i found this problem , the oil pressure is perfect at cold 80 psi and when motor is hot 190/200 F drop to 25 at Idle and 60 at high rpm .. If you push the gas in neutral at 5000 rpm the pressure go down from 60 to 40 ... at 30 psi can depend from cavitation ?? i had a 496 with same oiling for several years and never made a problems

this is my engine specs :

512 is ultralight rotating is 440 source 4.25 stroke on 1971 440 block

indy 295 EZ heads with oil restriction

milodon external oil single line ( rear pumo flange ) oil pan is milodon 7 qt , oil pump billet milodon with external regulator

comp cams hydraulic lifters with 25wit258 050 cam

Thanks !

I've ran my 440s to over 7k RPM without restricting the oil in the top end and never had a problem. I use the 1/2" pick up and HV pump Milodon deep sump pan with modifications. For years I ran Valvoline 50W racing oil.

Hey Raffa,
Hope you and the family are doing well? Give the wife a hug from me and patt that growing son of your on the head..
I take it the bearings and end clearances look good. Take a close look at the oil pump pressure relief valve piston. Make sure its not hanging open. Also check the oil Pump for wear and clearance.
One question that come to mind is, Does it matter if the oil is brand new or after being used? Does this effect or make a difference on the pressure? Or it does not matter. It is doing this all the time?
Sorry, But i dont remember what oil Restriction Mod you did for the system?
Also is the cam a full grooved camshaft? or just the solid shaft. and what cam bearings did you select? Flat or grooved?

hey Man ! im good ! i hope you ok ! i use vr1 valvoline 20w50 .. main bearing is grooved coated clevite , clearance is .0025 .. also camshaft have grooved bearings , hydraulic lifters runs at 7300 rpm with no problems... friday i talked with milodon tech service ... told me this problem is caused by too much wind in the pan

We are all good here in SO-CAL... No issues for us at the moment... Good to hear you are all good... I was also happy to hear our Friend Thomas Best is dong and feeling better...
Anyway,
Did they (Milodon) recommend a "Windage Tray" or a "Vacuum Pump" ?
I would go the windage tray first if possible . Or will one not work with that oil pan?

the pan was installed without tray ... because was difficult install for the crossbolt room space , now i have modified a stock windage tray

I would recommend modifications to the stock tray similar to the Milodon tray, I have done this to several.

One more row through the middle and open the side slides slightly deburring the openings.
