my first mopar in need of help
hey mopar fourms I have a 1965 plymouth with the 383 big block i have got it running but noticed a lot of crankcase exaust coming from valve covers vent when i put the oil cap on left valve cover it started to push oil out rear main seal but when i removed the cap it stoped it sounds like headgasket or piston ring blow by not sure about mopar if someone could point me in the right direction what to look for thanks

It sounds like a bad PCV valve. Make sure it is working, just shake the valve and you should hear a rattle if not, it's stuck and needs to be replaced. Also check the breather, this allows clean air to enter the engine while blow-by from the cylinders is removed via the PCV.

To test for blown head gaskets or other major problems, try a vacuum gauge test it's easy to do. Here's a site that shows what the readings mean.

Head gasket would not cause it.. Rings maybe ? A holed piston ??? Check the PVC as said.. Do a compression test
