I have a 1950s era M37 that was re-engined by the previous owner. I am peeling back layers of electrical and mechanical "Farm Fixes" to get it to a state to be roadworthy.
I believe that this might be a MOPAR LA 318 V8 of some vintage from my research and looking for confirmation or things I should check to confirm.

The internet is great. found where to get the code and ChatGPT got me this
The code you provided, "9M318 09270982," appears to be from a Mopar (Chrysler) engine. Here's a breakdown of the code:
9M318:
9: The year of the engine, likely 1979 (since Mopar engines from the 1970s often use a single digit for the year).
M: This indicates the engine plant. "M" often stands for Mound Road Engine Plant in Detroit.
318: This denotes the engine size, which is a 318 cubic inch (5.2-liter) V8 engine. The 318 is a member of Chrysler's LA (Light A) series of engines.
09270982: This could be a serial or identification number, but without additional context, it's difficult to determine its specific meaning. It often relates to the manufacturing sequence or batch.
Given this information, it confirms that you have a Mopar 318 V8 engine, likely produced in 1979 at the Mound Road Engine Plant. The 318 V8 was a popular and widely used engine in many Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth vehicles during the late 1960s through the 1980s.
