New cam?

Ok so I want to upgrade my 68 newport from a 2bbl to 4bbl. Jegs has all of the necessary brackets for the 4bbl, my question is do I need to put a different cam and lifters in it before upgrading, want to make sure the information I received is correct or incorrect, nothing crazy just a 600 cfm edlebrock with the 2186 performer intake just want to make sure it is necessary before buying the new cam and lifters and double roller timing chain.

A new timing chain certainly would not hurt. The cam and lifters do not have to be changed Why convert without taking advantage of installing a mild cam

first figure out the what you will be doing with it. 1. full out racer. 2. street racer. 3. local cruiser. 4 long distance cruiser. 5. full show car. dont forget the wilder the cam and carb , rear end, the less streetable it will be.
