new challenger scat pack upgrade questions
new challenger scat pack upgrade questions
So I'm about to order a new 2020 Challenger scat pack 392 widebody with a MT. I want to have some upgrades done and get some hp gain as well as make it sound nasty! After all the research I've done, I'm thinking of the following:
HHP Comp cam 274 complete package
JBA LT headers
JBA high flow midpipes with cats
Barton shifter
Flowmaster original 40's
Tuner - don't know brand yet
running light intake tube mod
resonater delete
I plan to keep this puppy forever and maintain it as best as I can. Any pros/cons to this setup and should I wait awhile to mod so it breaks in properly? I also hear the 19-20's are very hard to unlock the PCM for a tuner. Also, anything else I may need to make this setup run better? I'm going to have the midpipes with cats so it doesn't stink up everything with the fumes as well as attempt to have it pass inspection in TX.

Welcome to the site Tony..... Sounds like a cool Project yout getting into !!!!!! Most of that sounds like your off to a good start... AS for the Tuner.... Check out our Vendor HP Tuners.>>> https://www.hptuners.com/ .. They might have a little insight on the expansion.
Just as a little insite: I am assuming you are not worried about voiding your warranty? or are you going to do this Mod after the Factory warranty is over? Just food for thought.
Anyways. Sounds like you motivated and I cant wait to hear how you progress is coming in the future... Keep us posted..God Bless Texas !!

We do not officially have the 2020's supported yet but when you get a VIN send it over to our support team using the contact tab on our website and they can see if we can add it.
Keep in mind that tuning the newer Dodge vehicles takes a few more steps to get into. To tune the vehicle you will need to get your PCM modified, and you will need a Smart Access Cable to communicate with the PCM. Once that is done anyone with an HP Tuners interface will be able to create a custom tune for you, or you can get your own interface if you plan on doing some data logging on it.
If you have any other questions feel free to reach out to our support team and they can help you out.
Yes I’ve heard they’re kind of a pain to unlock. Thanks for the info, I’ll look at HP when the time comes. Any recommendation for the cam upgrade as far as changing out piston rods or anything? I don’t want these mods to last 20k mikes and then my engine blows
6.4 with the 1320 Package should be enough to get you in trouble....
WOW:
The R/T Scat Pack model has a 6.4-liter V8 good for 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque regardless of whether you get the automatic or manual. Fuel economy is 18 mpg (auto) or 17 mpg (manual). Again, you'll be knocking another second off the 0-60 time, which should be in the low 4's. (For those really interested in taking their Scat Pack to a drag strip, the1320 package adds several mechanical upgrades and subtracts weight for improved quarter-mile times).
