no spark in 318 v8
Hi! I´m new to the forums but I´ll introduce myself some other time, this will be a long post.
So, I´m now having a no spark condition after I replaced my pickup coil because the engine ran roughly. I managed to get smell of gas and one after fire, according to my ears that rang a solid minute after the bang. Also got loose rust off from my tailpipe. I checked the no spark condition with a timing light.
It all began when I replaced my pickup coil and it gave me a good 29x ohms of resistance with the new one. I also replaced my reluctor and adjusted the gap at .006". I got no spark whatsoever. I then replaced cap and rotor as well as plugs and plug wire. No effect.
I checked the input voltage from ECU and it´s just below battery voltage. The ECU also gets ground.
By this description, would it only be either ignition coil or ballast?
Is there any way to test ECU more accurately than just checking those two things?
Thanks for replies and I hope to get car on the road soon, now that my fiance needs the car next week for work... married guys know the pressure

Oh yeah, forgot to mention: I used C-4166A (ignition tester tool) and used high voltage test switch to try if I get spark that way and it does give a nice spark when spark plug thread is grounded to valve cover.
