Oil issues hemi 245

Hi , I've got a problem .... I've built a Chrysler 245 with a friend but its got no oil pressure , first start up with the rebuilt motor it sounded great ....but after a few seconds I noticed it was starting to tap ....looked at the rockers and there was no oil coming out , after hours of trying to troubleshoot we pulled the motor and put a pump in from a 265 we had and the result was the same ... Oil pressure gauge did not register at all , we tried a new filter thinking it might be fouled from the engine assembly lube , tried pulling oil through the pump out at the filter and got oil , we turned it over sparkplugs and oil filter out and oil gushed out , put it all back together and fired her up .... Still no oil pressure .....I'm at a loss as to why ....I've built many engines but have never had this issue , can anyone help me out on this one ? ... Emily

Leaving out the oil diverter valve would still make pressure I believe, but leaving out the left side galley plug by the intermediate shaft bushing would make little or no oil pressure.

Sorry.... My bad.... This is an Aussie Hemi 6.... Look like it is oiling threw the lifters up to the rockers.... Down in the Photos, on the bell housing side. you see the lifter galley plug hole. Question is: is there a plug that go's in deeper to not cause leakage of oil back into the pan?

.... I think I may have made a rookie mistake , I'm gonna feel like an idiot if I'm right , there's a plug behind the cam gear on the front of motor .... ??? I'll pull the timing cover off after work tonight and have a look ....I'm hoping that's all it is

Don’t say idiot, an idiot would have let it run when they heard the first noise thinking “that’ll probably go away “.
