Oil pan 440

I have a 440 in a street rod. Motor came from 77 Ramcharger with 6qt rear sump pan. These pans are becoming increasingly rare to find. My question is: since I don't have a crossmember under the engine, can I install a mid or forward pan with appropriate oil pickup without problem? Are the windage trays specific to fwd, mid, or rear pans? Is the threaded hole that the pickup screws into in the same location on all 440's?

I only have 3 inch clearance from pan to street and it's easy to ding them.

I would probably recomend a center sump pan with the correct pickup. Most pans come with a welded in windage tray if your not looking for a lot of capacity. (5-6 Quarts ) Summit, jegs or ebay has what you need. Greg

The threaded oil pickup hole is in the same place on all 440's. Windage trays are the same because of the before mentioned. And yes you can put a forward or middle sump pan on. I prefer the middle sump or car sump.

Thanks for the help. I feel a lot better knowing I have other options with regards to the oil pan and windage tray.
