oil passage ways 440

Where can I get a diagram of the oiling passages ways in a 1977 440. I would like to see where the oil flows from the pan to the return. Thanks

if i remember right the 426 hemi had larger suction tube. i think its 1/2 in. and the other "B"-"RB" have 3/8 in. the experts have some mods that is done to the stock holes in the block. and for the very high RPM race engines they use external oil lines.

You have to re drill and tap the block for the 1/2" hemi pickup. Race systems Usually have a swinging pickup and a external modified pump housing. Full race will have a dry stump & probably a 5 stage oil suction pump

Please ask the REAL question. I know there is one. There always is..........

"My oil pressure is low, what is the cause?"

Oil Pressure gauge reading was 5-7 PSI.....

Ok....Now here is the question.... No Pressure comming out of the oil pump... After removing the oil pump drive, and spinning the pump with a drill (Around 700RPM) and the oil filter removed, the pump just dribbles...
Took the pump apart. Inspected pump... All looks good and clean... Seals are all in good shape... Gear all look good.... Pump Drive looks good...Pressure Relief is clear and clean..

With me so far....???????

Now the pressure relief system for the oil pump.....
It has been quit some time scene I have been into a stock (STD) oil pump on a Big Block....

Question is: when you install the relief valve, Spring, and plug/cap.. How much tension should be on the spring when at rest? This one feels like it has little to none. So like if you shack the pump you cant hear it rattle per say....

Guess will just try a small washer and see if this NEW oil Pump that was in this thing is defective. I'm Guessing it is defective, Unless the pick-up is broke and or the oil pump pick up to pan clearance is not rite> Maybe just maybe the guy that put this together left a rag tide to the pick up>>>

Any thoughts or suggestions?????

First thing I'd check is the o ring on the snout of the oil pump, and the oil pump to block gasket

Also, since you didn't give us any details, did this just happen, or is this a new engine?

All the o-rings and gasket look to be in good shape........
The Motor was rebuilt and stored by the previous owner...
It has been stored for approximately 10 Years.
It was received as a long block and assembled, with a ready to run status...
I know, I know.... Never take things for granted.... Lol
The bad thing about the project is it is not at my shop, it is 1,200 miles away.
Side note... the motor has not been opened up at this point. But that is not out of the scope of things at this point. That will be the next stop. If the oil pump issue is unresolved or is not deemed failed........

Truly thanks for your input all..... Friends do help friends in there time of need..
Bob...

Oil pressure

On the 440 the oil passage way in the valve covers should oil always come out of the holes all of them and what if only 5 out of 8 oil is coming out is that normal or should all be pumping
