Oil pressure problem?

Hi everybody

Today I took the car for a ride but I notice a little oil problem. My oil pressung gauge is at 65 PSI at idle and 70 - 72 PSI running but I have a little oil leak through the oil filter and oil pressure gauge. I checked my engine oil level but the oil dipstick is ALL soaked in oil so I can't know my oil level. About one week ago I checked the oil level but the oil dipstick wasn't soaked in oil

Stop the engine let it sit for 10 minutes and then recheck it. You should be able to read it them. Make sure the car is on level ground when checking it...
Have a good day...

I just did, with engine stopped my oil level is just a bit over the "full" mark so I guess the level is ok but If I start the engine, the oil dipstick immediately becomes all soaked in oil. Is this normal?

Your welcome....

Now on to the oil leak....

Can you see were the oil is leaking from or near?

Oil filter or the mounting thread adapter may be loose or have blown out the gasket. (If its a Small Block)

I have two oil leaks, one is near of the Oil pressure gauge and other is just at the oil filter but I'm not sure i is from the filter or the mounting adapter. My engine is a small block so I think will be better to change the gasket.

But If the gasket is blown, why can this happen?

The adapter was ether over tightened. or the gasket collapse and the adapter became loose and blow out the gasket.
Replace the gasket with a good Fel-Pro gasket... change out the filter to a Wix and that should take care of that...

On too the oil gauge.... I think what Lynn was getting at was... Inside the car or out in the engine compartment?.
Now that we know it is inside your look to fix lets get down too it....

At the gauge... Are you using Plastic line or is it the OEM Copper Tubing?

What we will also need to know is..... Is the gauge leaking itself or is the fitting leaking behind the gauge?

The sunpro's oil pressure gauge came from factory with a plastic line so I used it and I think the leak is behind the gauge not the gauge by itself

Unhook the line and take a close look at it.... You can over tighten the nut and the Farrell will split the plastic hose.

I would just cut the end off and re-install the nut, a new farrell and re-install it and check it for leaks...

If you have a plastic oil line inside the car ??? FOR your own safety I would replace the oil line with an #4AN braided line

I followed the recommendations of RacerHog and now the oil leak inside the car is gone but also the oil filter leak mysteriously stopped

If you have a plastic oil line inside the car ??? FOR your own safety I would replace the oil line with an #4AN braided line
Which must be the line internal diameter?
