pulley removal

pulley removal

ok i feel like an idiot, i cant seem to figure out how to remove 440 crank pulleys . ive never had one off before. looks like they just slide over crank end, mine has keyway with no key . other than the torch and maul im lost. any help would be great.

6 bolts hold the pulley on the damper , once the pulley is removed you need a 1.25 " socket to remove the bolt & a puller to remove the damper

ive already did that. cant get the pulleys of the balancer. i dont know if its rusted on or what . just didnt want to go banging to hard on it with knowing for sure.

Just tap a screwdriver or chisel between the damper & pulley , it must be rusted in place

ok ill try that. ive been taping. i got it soaking in a little penetrating tonight. i'll let u know how it goes in the morning. thanks

Be careful soaking it You could damage the rubber connecting seal IF you have the bolts out ? Just hit it with a hammer

finally got it . took the torch and larger hammer. screwed up pulley,other than that its off. man it was stuck hard. oh well. think it was a a/c set up. it had four belt grooves i have another 2 groove i will use non a/c.

heck i dont know why it was so tight. seems like alot of corrosion behind the pulley to balancer bolts. i kept tapping lightly not to damage the pulley. finally said to hell with it and put the heat to it. still wouldnt break loose. finally i just slammed it, did just what i thought . bent the pulley but came off flying through the shop.
