Rebuilt engines

I’ve been searching for a new ride and I’m seeing a lot of cars claiming to have original, rebuilt engines. The one thing that makes me question their claim is quite a few appear to have untouched exhaust manifolds & bolts. Can you rebuild and engine without removing the exhaust manifolds? Why would you if so? By the way, I don’t know anything about engine rebuilding 😁

Thanks,

Mutt

AS far as I know... You remove the exhaust manifolds when rebuilding all engines unless they are casted as part of the cylinder head. Just my 2 cents..

you mean bc they are all rusty and appear to be time-welded on? trust me, you can get those off and on looking just like that. doesnt mean the engine was or wasn't rebuilt, just means it doesn't necessarily point to one thing or another.
