Smoking engine

OK, I just picked up a 66 Dart wagon with a Magnum 5.2L from a 96 Dodge Ram.

Once the car warms up if I do anything but accelerate really gently, it blows smoke. I drove the car home 20 miles on the freeway and I was billowing smoke like crazy. Does not seem to smoke when idling.

So any ideas? Valves or rings?

Thanks!

Check your PCV valve and valve covers. Also I have seen a motor so sludged up that the oil drain back holes were plugged. Trapped oil in the valve covers, filled them up! Then oil was sucked in the valve guides. No more smoke after I un plugged the holes.

What colour smoke?

White = coolant

- Cracked head / block
- Blown head
- Ect

Blue = oil

- Rings
- Valve guide seals
- Ect

Black = fuel

- Excessively running rich
- Running rich

Oh it is blue. It is most assuredly blowing oil!

Compression test , wet & dry , if it changes with a wet test the rings are bad , if it is smoking under decel probably bad valve guides

OK now I am confused. I can never see the smoke clearly myself because all my windows are limo black. I had my neighbor come over (another car guy) he swears the smoke is white. Maybe it is :/
Maybe it is just head gaskets? Sigh, I guess I have to pull the heads and have a look.
I wish I could get a few more opinions locally.

I miss all my friends back in LA. One phone call and I would have a half dozen friends over to help. I am all alone here in Phoenix

Has the intake been changed ??? Could have used the wrong intake gaskets. Could be a bad bottom cover on the intake - sucking air through the PVC valve

I really am mentally challenged sometimes!
I never actually pulled the plugs.
I took out all the passenger side plugs, three had normal carbon wear, one looked pretty darn clean.
I started the car up and my pop put his hand up to the passenger side exhaust, it came away wet!
Arrghh! Just need some darn head gaskets.

Before you pull the heads, have a shop do a pressure check on the cooling system. And are you losing coolant? That would be a sign.
