Suggestions for replacement exhaust on '68 Fury
Suggestions for replacement exhaust on '68 Fury
I just got a '68 Fury III project car. The 383 engine is in good shape, but the muffler & tailpipe are basically falling off, so my question is, what's the best from-scratch solution if I want a quiet ride?
I know a lot of people like to get a big sound out of their exhaust. I'm the opposite ... Ideally, I'd like to find a system that I can install myself, that will keep it as quiet as possible, without compromising engine performance (or breaking the bank). Is there such a thing?
Many thanks for any suggestions!

I got a great big long glass pack, took it to the muffler shop, and they welded it in for me. it didn’t cost too much and the ride had a nice rumble but was veeery quiet otherwise.
These days, I can bend and weld so I do my own but really, you should probably take that thing to a shop and just have it done. Once it’s in, you don’t have to do it again for many, many years.
